How to use PDF to Word

    1. Select your PDF with the button above, or drag and drop it onto the page.
    2. Check the options if the tool has any. The default settings work for most documents.
    3. Click "Convert" and wait a few seconds while the PDF is converted to Word.
    4. Download your Word file. Several files are delivered in a ZIP archive.

Our PDF to Word converter rebuilds the structure of your document: it detects paragraphs, columns, tables, lists and images, then recreates them as real Word elements. You can edit text directly instead of fighting with text boxes.

The result is a standard DOCX file that opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs and Apple Pages.

    About the file formats

    PDF (Portable Document Format)

Created by Adobe in 1993, PDF is the standard for sharing documents that must look identical on every screen and printer. It embeds fonts, images and layout in one file and supports passwords, forms and digital signatures.

    DOCX (Microsoft Word)

DOCX is the default document format of Microsoft Word since 2007. It is an open XML-based format, so it can also be edited in LibreOffice, Google Docs and Apple Pages.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the Word file after converting?

Yes. The DOCX file contains real paragraphs and tables, so you can change text, styles and images like in any Word document.

    Is the formatting kept?

Fonts, colors, tables, columns and images are reproduced as closely as possible. Very complex layouts may need small adjustments.

Can I convert PDF to DOC instead of DOCX?

DOCX is the modern Word format and opens in every version since Word 2007. If you really need the old DOC format, open the DOCX in Word and choose "Save as" Word 97-2003.

Does it work with scanned PDF files?

Scanned pages are images, so their text cannot be edited directly. Run the file through our OCR PDF tool first to make the text recognizable, then convert it.

    Is MajorPDF free to use?

Yes, completely free. There is no registration and no watermark is added to your files.

    Are my files safe?

Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection and deleted automatically after 1 hour(s). After downloading you can also delete them immediately with one click.

What is the maximum file size?

Each file can be up to 50 MB.
